Since June 28, the Board of the Central Bank has raised the refinancing rate to 14% per annum. What is the reason for such a decision and how will it affect the economy?
Refinancing rate (or discount rate) is the percentage at which central banks issue loans to commercial banks. This is a very important monetary policy tool that allows central banks:
– to regulate the level of inflation (the higher the discount rate, the lower the money issue, as money becomes “expensive”),

At the meeting of the Board of the Central Bank, devoted to the discussion of the effectiveness of monetary policy measures to ensure the stability of consumer prices, a decision was made to increase since June 28 this year. Refinancing rates up to 14% per annum. This was reported by the press service of the CB Ruz.

The Senate of the Oliy Majlis, on the recommendation of the President of Uzbekistan, appointed Senator Mamarizo Nurmuratov Chairman of the Senate Committee on Budget and Economic Reforms on June 6 to chair the Board of the Central Bank of the country.
According to the press service of the Central Bank, Mamarizo Nurmuratov (born in 1960) is a graduate of the Tashkent Institute of National Economy and the Leningrad Economic and Financial Institute.
